FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Experienced travelers know that an unplanned occurrence can always arise, before or during a trip.  Cancellation penalties can be steep, even if due to an unforeseen emergency.  It's bad enough if you have to cancel your travel plans but sometimes people don't think about falling ill or losing baggage en route -- it could easily happen to you.  And these are problems that can turn into nightmares if you travel without adequate insurance protection.

WHERE SHOULD I BUY COVERAGE?
You can always obtain this type of insurance through a travel agency.  Colorado Resort Reservations works with Tourist Insurance Agency (TIA) because it offers low-cost coverage as well as the following advantages:
  • Experience - TIA has been serving travelers for 25 years in North America and Europe.
  • Quality - TIA's insurance products are among the best available, underwritten by leading insurors.
  • Service - Fast, courteous sales and claims service is guaranteed.
  • Convenience - Simply accept the Vacation Insurance option in Vacation Planner.
WHAT COVERAGES ARE PROVIDED?
The package consists of:
  • Cancellation
  • Missed Flight
  • Hotel Upgrade
  • Travel Delay
  • Return Flight
  • Unused Travel Arrangements
  • Interruption Insurance
  • Baggage Delay
  • Ski Equipment Delay
  • Emergency Evacuation
HOW MUCH COVERAGE DO I NEED?
CANCELLATION INSURANCE:
The amount to insure is the amount of money you would lose if you have to change or cancel your reservation with Mont Tremblant Reservations before departure. That can amount to 100% of your travel arrangements so we recommend that you insure the full trip price for all travelers.

RETURN FLIGHT INSURANCE:
The same amount of coverage that you select for cancellation insurance will be provided under the Return Flight benefit.  Be sure to select enough to cover the cost of a one-way, economy class flight from your destination to your originating city.

DO I NEED TO BUY SUPPLIER DEFAULT COVERAGE?
Not if you pay for the travel arrangements by credit card (USA residents).  That is your best and least expensive protection against failure of a travel supplier.  In Canada, residents of British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec are protected by government compensation funds.  Some insurance vendors advertise that their cancellation insurance includes coverage for supplier default but restrictions in the scope of coverage make it of limited value and it is more expensive than protection offered by Colorado Resort Reservations.

DO LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS APPLY?
Yes, as with all insurance policies, the terms and conditions are limited.  To familiarize yourself with these provisions before enrolling, you may examine a Travel Insurance Passport online or we can mail one to you.   Benefits are provided in accordance with that document and you should take time to review the scope of coverage before you buy.  If you have any questions, simply contact Tourist Insurance Services for more information.

IS THIS PRIMARY OR SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE?
All benefits are secondary to whatever insurance you may already have in force.  Most travelers do not have cancellation coverage present in any other policy so this benefit generally is the sole source of reimbursement.  Other benefits such as baggage coverage often are present to some degree in existing policies (homeowner's insurance) or in the liability agreements of airlines and other carriers.  In that case, benefits from all sources of recovery will be coordinated in event of a covered loss.  That means each party will contribute its share so that you will be fully reimbursed.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?  HOW DO I BUY COVERAGE?
Go to Coverage for a summary of benefits; then determine the total amount of cancellation insurance needed to cover all travelers under your reservation.   Accept the insurance option in Vacation Planner or complete the online application or phone your credit card information to Colorado Resort Reservations at 888/ 811-6363. Enrollment deadline: 2 weeks before departure date unless the booking date is later. Upon receipt of your premium payment, a confirmation of coverage will be mailed to you.

HOW DO I PROCEED IF A CLAIM OCCURS?
In event of a cancellation claim before departure, notify Colorado Resort Reservations immediately.  If a medical emergency arises during your trip, call the toll-free number of Worldwide Assistance Services which appears in your Travel Insurance Passport.  All other claims should be reported in writing to Tourist Insurance as soon as you return home.  You may request a claim form online by clicking on Claims Service .
